Nico is 16 years old, in grade 11 and lives in Kanata. He has been playing piano since 2005, flute since 2012, guitar since 2015 and bass guitar since 2016. He is known for being easy to talk to and makes friends really easily. Nico grew up on indie/alt/classic rock and that has influenced his playing style and repertoire. Song Introduction:
Title: Schmaltz
Genre and why it fits into that genre:  Rock as a genre is characterized by the guitar and bass, which are the instruments I have used. The main aspects of alternative rock are prominent guitar and often a buzz or distortion effect. I call my song alternative rock because both of these things are true for my song.
Instrumentation: See tabs below. Verse x5 (For bass, play transition when entering and finishing all choruses), Chorus x3 (Slightly increase tempo each time through chorus), Verse x6, Chorus x3, Solo x1, Chorus x2, Verse x4 (Solo x1 during the 3rd verse), Chorus x5, Solo x1, Bass transition only x1.

Story behind Song: I realized that when I put my amp through my computer, there was a lot of distortion. I took the chords I had, made a bass line, made a solo out of the scale and a background riff for the rest of the song. Schmaltz is defined as both sentimentality in music and as chicken or goose fat. I find this title very fitting because it is both sentimental and you can see the geese going on their daily journey, being disturbed by people, honking at them, chasing after them, and finally being able to finish their journey in peace.
